Two most sought-after artists on the country’s showbiz arena, Winky D born Wallace Chirumiko and Mukudzeyi “Jah Prayzah” Mukombe continue to push each other to greater heights with a healthy rivalry that gives some edginess to their projects in contrast to their counterparts’.
Though both musicians persistently deny any form of competition between them, their achievements have put them in positions that inevitably persuade the general public and the corporate world to tug them head to head against each other.
In an ongoing poll being conducted by Africa Connect Music Festival in search of an artist people would want to grace the second edition of the live music festival, in South Africa next year, between the Zimdancehall kingpin, Winky D and Jah Prayzah, the former seems to have gained ground ahead of the Kutonga Kwaro hitmaker.
In results shared on Africa Connect Music Festival Facebook page on 11 June just a few hours into the poll, Winky D was leading with over 200 votes
“Africa Connect Music Festival 2020 Who's gonna be? WINKY D or JAH PRAYZAH? For ZIM At the Moment WINKY D is on top with 568 votes Then JAH PRAYZAH with 333 votes,” read the post.
The poll ends on Sunday with the artist who would have reached 5 000 votes-mark, first, representing Zimbabwe at 2020 edition of Africa Connect Music Festival on 2 May in Randfontein, South Africa.
Africa Connect Music Festival brings together over 22 artists and Disk Jockeys from 11 African countries to showcase musical talent.
The first edition was on the 4th of last month and Jah Signal, Soul Jah Love and Enzo Ishall were billed to grace the event.Meanwhile, earlier this year, Winky D's hit single, MuGarden broke Jah Prayzah's record of the most viewed Zimbabwean music video on YouTube in 24 hours.
