Zimbabwean songbird and musician, Tamy Moyo is enjoying a strong start to 2019 but things could be about to get a whole lot better for the artist from Bulawayo. The singer is nominated for an award at the upcoming National Arts Merit Awards and she's hoping to bring home her first ever award at the ceremony.

Her chances of winning are great too - Tamy is nominated in two awards although she faces stiff competition in each category. The Tekere star is nominated for "Outstanding Female Artist", alongside Sandra Ndebele and Janet Manyowa while the single mentioned above is nominated in the "Outstanding Video" category, against the likes of Jah Prayzah and Janet Manyowa again.

Tamy has been nominated for a NAMA before but sadly she walked away empty handed back in 2017. Two years later, however, she's determined to make things right and after a strong 2018, she feels as if this could be her year.

Speaking to Zimbabwean publication, Chronicle, Tamy said of her chances:

“I feel greatly privileged and honoured to be nominated twice at the Namas. I’m thankful to everyone who has played a part in my journey. Just the nomination is a great achievement in itself.

“To be nominated among great female artists like Janet Manyowa and Sandra Ndebele who are doing well in their respective disciplines, is inspiring. I’m a bit nervous, but also thankful at the same time. I hope I’ll win,”

Considering the strong effort she's put in recent months we are willing to put money on her winning at least one award. Do you think Tamy Moyo will win at the upcoming NAMAs?
