It's a sad day for the entertainment industry as Nomasonto 'Mshoza' Maswanganyi has reportedly died in a Johannesburg hospital on 19 November 2020. News of the Kwaito Queen's death sent shockwaves amongst people and her former industry mates.

The cause of death at this point is not yet known but her manager and close friend revealed that she was battling diabetes and that she has been in and out of hospital. Various reports suggest that on Wednesday she was hospitalized after allegedly feeling fatigued. 

The 37-year-old is survived by her two children, her son Jacob Junior and her daughter Pride.

The statement reads: It is with great sadness to announce the untimely death of Nomasonto Mshoza' Maswanganyi. The Kortez hitmaker succumbed peacefully in the early hours of this morning. She was 37.

"She will be deeply missed as an ultimate entertainer who loved being on stage. Not only did she radiate star quality,
Mshoza was a media darling."

Her Kwaito career spans for more than two decades and her hit 90s single Kortez is her most memorable to date. The child star officially started her solo career at the young age of 15.
