Award winning comedian Tyra Chikocho affectionately known as Madam Boss has revealed that rehearsals for her self-titled movie, “Becoming Madam Boss” have begun.
 
The film narrates the story of a highly motivated rural-cultured woman who dreams of being an influencer by becoming a TV news anchor.
 
Her lack of education caused by her learning difficulties however stand in her way and she must dig deep within herself to achieve her big dream. The movie was inspired by the life of the comedian.


Speaking about the movie, Tyra said it couldn’t have come at a perfect time of her career.
 
"This film has come at the right time in my career, a time when I’m finally getting international recognition and winning awards. I want this movie to inspire you to chase your dreams no matter what," she said.
 
Madam Boss started her career as a gospel music artist when she released her debut album titled Sunungura. 
 
She became prominent as a comedian socialite when she started doing comedy skits as a maid which circulated on social media.
 
She rose to fame with her comic skits portraying the life of a maid named Dudzai. In other skits she acted as Dudzai’s boss and she aced both roles earning her a top spot in the comic industry in Zimbabwe.
 

Madam Boss became the first Zimbabwean comedian to reach 1 million followers in Zimbabwe. Currently she has over 1.1 million followers on the platform. She also recently reached 1 million followers on Instagram.
 
The comedian confirmed that rehearsals for the film began last week and that it will take 20 days of serious shooting to complete the movie.
 
She wrote on Instagram, “#BecomingMadamBoss the movie our own movie…..Im super excited to be working with these legends.”
The film is packed with popular faces that have been doing big things on the big screens. Among them is award winning actor Eddie Sandifolo who was first introduced to the public in the 2004 ZTV drama series “Tiriparwendo” as the lead actor, “Mambo Chabvonga”.
 
Actress Charity Dlodlo popularly known for her role as a gossip lady named Mai Madziva on hit series “Studio 263” also features on the film.

Other supporting roles in the film include award winning actress Carol Zimbizi and talented actor Conrad Mwanawashe.
 
“Becoming Madam Boss” film is being directed by award winning filmmaker Sydney Taivavashe.
 
Sydney‘s natural talent emerged fully at the age of 22 when he wrote, directed and produced his first major feature film on a shoestring budget. The film was later nominated for a National Arts Merit Award (Zimbabwe’s prestigious arts recognition platform known as the NAMAs) in the “Outstanding Feature Full Length Film” category.
 
Sydney’s work often carries a positive social commentary. His following short film project, entitled Seiko, won the best film at the NAMA 2017 in the Short Film category. In 2020 his film Gonarezhou: The Movie (An Anti-poaching awareness film) won the best first feature at Pan-African film festival In Hollywood and Sydney was also nominated for best director.
