Business tycoon, Thompson Dondo is one man who gives meaning to the statement “go big or go home”.

The proprietor of one of the biggest car rental businesses in the country, Impala, has over the past three years caused a stir on the local showbiz scene by splashing money at an opportunity to push his kinsman, Sam Dondo.

Some of the crazy missions saw Thompson Dondo bringing together all the big five acts in the country back in 2016 to the launch of Sam’s debut album “Dyara Munamato”. The lineup included the legend, Dr. Oliver Mtukudzi.

It was a massive gig which saw the Harare skies get lit by a marvelous fireworks display, complementing the music.

Sadly, the album was a flop and so were the other two that followed it.

Thompson had bankrolled Sam’s projects to no avail.

This year, attention seems to have shifted from Sam and is now closer to home.

The affluent businessman is now pushing his son, King 98, a budding hip-hop act.

The lad is set to drop his debut album on Wednesday next week at an event slated for Wingate Golf Club.

In true Thomposon Dondo style, the father is going all out for his son just like any other parent with the resources would obviously do.

But, this father he loves to go deeper, like the popular prophets now dotted all over Zimbabwe would love to say as they “perform miracles”.

On this venture Dondo has lined up some of the biggest local and continental stars to usher his son to the world.

Artists set to perform include Nasty C, Davido, ExQ, Nadia Nakai and Takura.

This brings back memories of Sam Dondo’s 2016 album launch. Mega stars gathered to launch an average project.

But, whilst there are similarities that can be drawn, King 98 can shock critiques and deliver a cool album that will be embraced by music lovers.

So the question is, can he be the one who finally causes the Dondo name to be a force to reckon with in the music industry?
