Stunner Popularly  known as  Desmond Tambawoga Chideme was born  in Gweru on May 11, 1980, and he has a daughter named Kyra  Chideme. He grew up in Harare's Glen Norah suburb.

While growing  up in Harare the musician attended one of the city's most prestigious schools, Prince Edward High School. However, it is unknown where Stunner received his secondary education.Stunner used to sell video cassettes before he got into music.

Stunner also cut and designed clothes and worked part-time as a tailor.
Stunner began his career in the music industry as a choreographer and dancer before recording his own music. Stunner has found love and married Dyonne Tanaka Tafirenyika, the woman with whom he allegedly cheated on Olinda.

Dyonne confirmed her pregnancy with Stunner's daughter in 2017, and when she gave birth, they named her Kyra Owami Chideme.

He did so alongside contemporaries such as Roki, Leonard Mapfumo, Jamal, Betty Makaya, Maskiri, and Extra Large. His rise to prominence coincided with the genre's increasing popularity at the time. 

Local radio stations such as Power FM and Star FM provided generally positive coverage of the genre as part of the 75 percent local content initiative spearheaded by Jonathan Moyo, then-minister of information and publicity.

When some of his songs began to top the billboard in local competitions such as the Power FM top 20 show, which was held every Saturday afternoon, his popularity began to grow. He also performed at a number of national events, including Heroes Day celebrations and Unity Day galas, among others.
