"Underdog" Sulu Shines At Patoranking Show

He really did the things!

The black sheep of last Friday night's Ikonic Chronicles concert held at Harare International Conference Centre, Sulumani "Sulu" Chimbetu was a marvel that whipped the audience into a dancing frenzy.

Sulu was the only artist representing the Sungura genre at a predominantly Dancehall and Afro-pop show.

Very little was expected from the Dendera King as what the line-up even suggested. He was made the first performance of the night, a slot usually given to upcoming or not so popular artists.

Although he performed in front of a half-full auditorium, the crooner was not deterred, belting mixed bag that swung between his songs and his late father, Simon Chimbetu's.

Throughout his almost hour-long performance, revellers were on their feet in tune with Dendera dance moves.

Meanwhile, speaking ahead of the show, organisers of the event, Kayse Connect highlighted that a buffet line-up of artist that characterised the concert was living up to the theme, Ikonic (iconic) Chronicles.

“The mixed bag of lined up artists that range from Sungura to hip-hop aims to illustrate our “Iconic Chronicles” theme. We picked artists from each genre across our local music scene, whom we believe can be the torchbearers or rather icons and build the future generation of the music industry," said  Elton Kurima of Kayse Connect.
