With the slow but steady climb of the Zimbabwean economy, there are some celebrities that are boosting it along by creating good Zimbabwean rapport with the rest of the world through creativity and intellectual influence.

Jah Prayzahwas born Mukudzeyi Mukombe on the 4th July 1987 in Uzumba, Zimbabwe. He is a contemporary musician from and the lead band member of ‘Third Generation’. He is famously referred to as Musoja, which is the Shona word for ‘soldier’.
He earned this name due to his signature military look when performing. His stage name, ‘Jah Prayzah’ is derived from his name, “Mukudzeyi”, which means “Praise Him”.
He began his career in 2005 and in 2007 he released his firstly commercially launched album, Sungano. By November 2018, Jah Prayzah had released his eighth studio album titled ‘Chitubu’. He has won various awards, namely, NAMA 2014 Awards – Outstanding song, ‘Tsviriyo’; MTV African Music Award 2016 – Listeners Choice and ZIMA 2016 Awards – Collaboration of the Year, “Kure Kure” ft. Ammara Brown
Aside from being a musician, he is also an author, a philanthropist, a brand ambassador and an artist manager. Jah Prayzah has an estimated networth of between $1million and $5million.
Pokello Nare is a Zimbabwean socialite, entrepreneur and media personality. In 2013, Pokello was a housemate in ‘Big Brother Africa’ (season 8), The Chase. She is currently regarded as one of the most influential Zimbabweans and is the stepdaughter of Ignatius Chombo.
She attended Alexandra Park Primary School and then Kyle College High School. She then went on to study Communications and Business Management at Monash University in South Africa and majored in Television Broadcasting.
In 2011 Pokello opened ‘Addicted 2 Shoes. In 2014 she launched her shoe brand called ‘Pink Bottoms’ and is Creative Director of the brand. She also owns a nail polish brand with 122 colours. She is a brand ambassador for multiple companies in Zimbabwe regionally including PEPSI and ECONET.
Pokello currently has an estimated networth of $1million – $5million.
Wicknell Chivayo is a Zimbabwean businessman who rose to prominence after he won large Zimbabwean government contracts. He was born in Chivhu, Zimbabwe on the 22nd November 1982.
Wicknell Chivayo married Sonja Madzikanda and reportedly paid $50 000 for her. The famous international artist, Oliver Mtukudzi serenaded the couple and their guests on their wedding day.
It had been reported that Samuel Undenge, who was the Energy and Power Development Minister of Zimbabwe at the time, had pressured the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) to pay Chivayo’s company, Intratek Zimbabwe, $5million despite the absence of a bank guarantee. However, on the 22 January 2018, reports claimed that Chivayo’s company was actually paid $7 million instead of the previously reported $5 million.
Wicknell Chivayo has contracts worth $680 million.
Queen Vee is an RnB musician from Zimbabwe now based in South Africa. She was born Vanessa Sibanda on the 19th September 1988. She was originally a model and was crowned Miss Zimbabwe in 2008 and has earned a Diploma in Marketing and Public Relations. She is married to Farai Matsika, whom she has a son with.
Her music career began in 2010 after meeting Buffalo Soul Jah, a Zimbabwean Dancehall artist. Buffalo Soul Jah signed her to his record label, United Nations Africa.
Since then, she has released multiple songs and worked with many celebrated artists like L-Tido, Ziyon from Liquid Deep and AB Crazy amongst others. She has released a song entitled Hey Lover and it became a hit propelling her to the top. It was played on DSTV musical channels, Channel O and MTV Base. She has worked with Da Les, AB Crazy, L-Tido and Zyion amongst others. Queen Vee also has a Clothing Label named ‘Queen Vee Courture’.
Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa is a radio and television talk show host, master of ceremonies, voice over artist, brand ambassador and a philanthropist. She is the talk show host for ‘Ruvheneko’, a current affairs talk show that airs on her online TV platform as well as on radio for Zimbabwe’s top media group, Zimpapers (Capitalk 100.4 FM and Star FM).
She is the daughter of politician and medical doctor, David Parirenyatwa and Choice Parirenyatwa. She is also the grandaughter of the late Samuel Tichafa Parirenyatwa, who was the first black medical doctor in Rhodesia who the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals were named after.
She attended Chrisipite Senior School from 2001 to 2006 and went on study BA Media and Writing and Political Science from 2007 to 2009 at the University of Cape Town. She then studied a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing at the same University.
She says that she launched her career while studing at UCT where she joined the University radio station as the Current Affairs Talk Show host in her second year of studies. She was then nominated to participate in the Africa Leadership Project in November 2013 which was to be launched in 2014 together with Phsychology Maziwisa, Tawanda Mutyebere and Carl Joshua Ncube among other prominent Zimbabweans under 40. She was also the MC at the Miss Zimbabwe 2014 pageant.
