The artist said that his mother was only sick for two days before succumbing to her illness.

“She was generally a healthy person all her life and I don’t remember her ever being sick or hospitalized,” Stunner said in a short statement, before going further. He indicated that the details about the cause of death are still sketchy as tests results are pending. This comes as fellow hip-hop artist King 98 and the popular Prophet Passion have lost their father and mother respectively. This is a very dark day in Zimbabwe's entertainment industry and a clear sign that 2021 has not started on the right foot.

In an interview a while back, Stunner touched on his upbringing and his mother's care saying:

"It was a good childhood. I was raised by a loving mom who let me and my siblings be who we wanted to be and also guided us away from the drugs and violence."

A few years ago Stunner also talked about his mother being ill and how he needed to take care of her. This came as he had a case before the courts after he had crashed the car he was driving into four others. The court took leniency on him and he was sentenced to perform 210 hours of community service for negligent driving. Chideme performed the community service at Greendale District Offices.

Harare magistrate Ms Nomsa Sabarauta also ordered Stunner to pay a fine of $150 for driving without a driver’s licence. In passing sentence, Ms Sabarauta said she considered that he was a first time offender, who pleaded guilty showing contrition.

“He is a family man and breadwinner, therefore incarcerating him would be a harsh sentence,” she said.

“However, people who drive without a valid driver’s licence should be accountable. Driving without (a) valid driver’s licence is leading to many road carnages.“In this offence, the accused was travelling at high speed, an indication of negligence. At all times, celebrities should strive to abide by the law.”

Stunner rammed into four parked cars while driving a Toyota Lexus registration number ADG 3577. The prosecutor Mrs Devoted Gwashavanhu-Nyagano said Stunner was driving along Jason Moyo Avenue. He lost control of the vehicle and it veered off the road to the right side and hit four vehicles in a parking bay.

We send our heartfelt condolences to Stunner and his family. We hope they are comforted in this time of mourning.
