Kikky’s prowess and lyrical talent in the song however raised a lot of questions as to why her career remains lukewarm. Although she has bagged a number of awards, the rapper’s career has potential to become way bigger than it is right now.
She is talented, she has the look, she can dance, she has the fame and allegedly she has the money, so where does it all go wrong?
Even South African music industry insider Nota Baloyi has the same question as he sees Kikky’s potential.
Speaking in an interview with Nicolatte Masuku and King Kuda on a podcast titled Kudandaro, Nota, questioned why Kikky Badass hasn’t collaborated on a song with bigger stars like Nadai Nakai and AKA.
He accused Kikky of sleeping on her music career, noting that she has got the money to do collabo’s but “she uses it to do her nails instead.”
Baloyi who is most popularly known as SA rapper Kwesta’s former manager and business partner revealed that he once talked to Kikky’s producer but she never reached out to him.
“I have spoken to her producer before. I have even texted her and am sure she even knows it….If she was serious about herself and serious about her career, she should have told her producer, Oh my God you have spoken to that guy! That guy can change my entire life. Let’s call him right now, let’s make sure we getting collabs, let him connect us with people,” he said.
Seh Calaz and Stunner’s former manager, popularly known in the entertainment streets as Iamvokal, also concurred with Nota Baloyi’s sentiments. He said that he believes Kikky Badass has the potential to be a regional superstar.
“I too believe Kikky is better than what she currently is right now… she just need a whole team that can push her to her limits and break that barrier. She can be a regional superstar! She got the image, she has the voice, she has the lyrics and the superstar attitude,” he said.
Born Christabell Stembeni Mahlungwa on April 15, 1995, Kikky Baddass rose to limelight in 2017 after she dropped a raunchy video to "Body Conversations", a song which is featured on her debut album titled Queen of The South.
In October 2017, Kikky released her debut album called "Queen of The South" which featured Ycee from Nigeria, Zimbabwean rappers Marcus Mafia and Jnr Brown and production by WizzyProbeatz who also produces for Patoranking.
The album was launched exclusively at the glamorous Crown Plaza Hotel in Harare. That same year, Kikky Baddass engaged in a lyrical war with female rapper Tiara Baluti which resulted in diss songs "Strive Masiiwa" by Kikky and Mash It Up by Tiara. The beef started after Tiara was interviewed on Capital 26Free's ‘Keep It Real Fridays’ where she said she wouldn't work with Kikky on a song.
Kikky reacted by going on Instagram live and Twitter where she called Tiara arrogant and that she should stay in her lane. The outspoken rapper was involved in other beefs with a number people in the industry as well.
