Award-winning Zimdancehall chanter, Freeman stirred a hornets’ nest over the weekend after posting on social media that he would not be gracing Mr Mbare, Seh Kinnah’s birthday bash.

Freeman had been pinned on the star-studded poster of artists who were slated to perform at Kinnah’s birthday bash on Saturday at the Harare Gardens. The show was facilitated by seasoned promoter Chipaz in conjunction with Silent Killer.

Posting on his Facebook page, Freeman indicated that he was never furnished with any details concerning the gig and that he was not available due to other commitments.

“Just want to inform my valued fans that my team and I are unaware of this show, I have other commitments already tonight,” wrote the HKD Boss in a now deleted post.

The Joina City hitmaker’s post did not sit well with a lot of music lovers who urged him to support fellow artists.

“Support other artists on their birthday, mangwana kwako kunoshaya munhu. Kungopfuurawo neko zvakakosha sterek woimba hako kana 1 song (no one will come to support you on your birthday as a return of favour. Just passing by the spot and then sing at least one song will be very special and important),” said one Facebook user, Mike Vashiko.

“Ma HK anonyanya kuzvifonera so (Freeman thinks too highly of himself),” wrote another user, Mai Nokutenda

“I think if it was show yapromoter ndainyora, but yemamwe ma artists ndaingonyarara (You cannot write such a post over your fellow artiste’s show, it would be understandable had it been some promoter’s show),” wrote another user Gaan Taab.
Reactions to Freeman's post.

Although the criticism led the crooner to delete his post, he had received his fair share of defence.

“I support you Doctor, these promoters must act professionally. Keep the standard,” said Donald Kateguru.

“They gotta value you brand boss, Unongoisa munhu paposter usina kumuudza (you don’t just throw someone on your poster without telling them),” said Albert Junior Sibanda.
