Condolence Messages Flood in for CalVin

The Rap Icon from Luveve, CalVin is no more as the year 2020 continues to be the year that takes. The rapper CalVin was the victim of an apparent hit and run that left him for dead. Full details of the incident are still yet to come in but there has been an outpouring of condolences from Zimbabweans from all works of life.

CalVin was born Mgcini Calvin Nhliziyo, was Rap artist and a producer, who represented andresided in the Bulawayo surburb of  Luveve.  Born on the 15th of December 1985 Cal was Introduced to rap in 1996 and heavily influenced by the likes of Jay Z, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Tupac and Michael Jackson. 

His first opportunity to properly record was in the year 2003. CalVin's big break in music however didn't come until 2014 when he released his EP Dat Luveve Boy which was well received widely. CalVin had a discography of 7 official albums with various underground projects too. He was an artist universally loved by the people for his talent, work ethic and the views he expressed of unifying the hip-hop movement in Zimbabwe. He wanted to unite Bulawayo and Harare as one in music.

CalVin had many career highlights from working with Cassper Nyovest to his highly publicised beef with Jnr Brown. His death comes just two weeks after the Zimbabwe music world lost Scara the drummer, who was another celebrated figure. Condolence messages have also been pouring in from across the border with Dj Fresh and Cassper Nyovest having a few words for the brother.
There has been a call across social media for people to stream CalVin's music as a way to give back to his family and the response to this has been good CalVin will surely be missed by many, may his soul rest in peace.
