Tongai Gwaze better known by his stage name- Greatman is a Zimbabwean musician who despite being born with a condition that reduces muscle strength in older children and adults, has risen to nurture his musical talent to become a renowned figure in the music industry.
In 2022, Greatman exchanged vows with the love of his life in a colourful and opulent wedding ceremony that became the talk of the town.
Here is a look back at all the details of Greatman’s wedding including the drama that ensued after the event.
Details about Greatman’s wedding
Greatman’s wedding was held on the 6th of February 2022 and it was one of the biggest celebrity events of the year.
The white wedding event was held at Mabvuku Talent Village Gardens in Harare and it attracted some big names in Zimbabwe including musicians, politicians and socialites.
Besides the impressive guest list, other things that made Greatman’s wedding memorable were the scrumptious food and drinks, the beautiful decor, and the quality of entertainment.
The extravagant event was facilitated by several donations that Greatman and his wife got from well wishers.
To begin with, the wedding venue was provided for free alongside the band and PA system which were provided by Mr Kachingwe and P Entertainment, respectively.
Wedding Centre and Mai Mtokozo donated 100 chairs each in addition to the 200 chairs that were provided by Chirinda Farm.
The food was also sorted by well-wishers as The President's Office, through Special Advisor to the President on Disability Minister Joshua Malinga, donated 70 kgs of rice. Authentic Cakes and Catering provided the catering services and Cake Zone donated the cake.
Greatman and his groomsmen were dressed by a woman identified as Queen Melis while his dashing bride was dressed by the Wedding Centre.
Two Mercedes Benzes to ferry the bride and groom to and from the wedding venue were provided by Blessed To Be a Blessing and TEO Events which organized the event and used their social media platforms to raise donations for the wedding.
The drama after Greatman’s wedding
Even though Greatman’s wedding was a huge success and we all expected the newlyweds to enjoy their honeymoon in peace and afterwards, our expectations were far from what happened.
A few days after the wedding, a report revealed that the extravagant ceremony (which was supposed to be fully funded) had left the newlyweds with $2500 arrears as some service providers had not been paid.
What followed after that was a war of words between the musician and TEO Events as Greatman accused the event organizer of diverting funds that had been donated for the wedding and monopolizing the ceremony and prioritizing their business over the families’ interests.
In response to Greatman’s accusations, Matthew Mhembere of TEO Events distanced himself from the allegations of misappropriation of funds for the wedding and blasted Greatman and his family for being ungrateful.
Who is Greatman’s wife?
Greatman’s wife is Silibaziso Masara. She was born and raised in Gweru at Warambwa farm.
The musician paid the bride price to Masara’s parents in March 2020 and the couple welcomed their first child in May 2021.
