After the hit singles “Mukoko” and “Bhachura” on which she was featured by Tytan
, respectively, Ammara Brown
became the most sought after female act in Zimbabwe.
She went on to drop her own singles, “Wachu Want” and “Akiliz”. The latter saw her topping charts on national radio and getting the attention of some international music promoters.
However, trouble started when she dropped her debut album, “Ammartia” in November 2017.
It just never resonated with the masses.
This was made worse by her decision to relocate to Mzansi last year where she was hoping to establish herself in its tough but lucrative industry.
Fast forward to 2019, she is back in the country under unclear circumstances. It appears the South African dream has been derailed and she is trying hard to reignite romance with fans after a dull 2018.
On that regard, she dropped a brand new single, “Loyal” on Tuesday.
Sadly, there appears to be no buzz yet around the song.
The reaction is similar to how fans responded to her flop 2018 single, “Svoto” on which she featured Mr. Eazi.
After listening to the track, passively, one might think that it is just another love song from Queen Mukoko. But if one listens carefully they discover there is more.
“You have shown me loyalty. Time and time again my babey. You have loved me royally time and time and time my babey….and when they are harsh you draw me close…,” sings the barefoot goddess.
Indeed, these are harsh times for Ammara
as she is getting some serious criticism from music lovers as they are receiving her new productions with mixed feelings – majority saying she is missing the mark.
In “Loyalty” it appears Ammara is appealing to her fans to embrace her and stand with her during the tough seasons she is enduring.
On the flip side, the track is quite dope.
Chiweddar did a great job on the beat and the lyrics are well weaved together.
However, the track lacks a solid hook which might cause it to be easily forgotten just like “Svoto”.
